John is a lifelong resident of Georgia and a 5th generation native of Canton. Growing up in Canton, John attended Holly Springs Elementary School, Teasley Middle School and in 1992 he graduated from Cherokee High School. John graduated from Georgia Tech in 1997 with a Bachelor's Degree in Building Construction. After college John worked for about 4 years in his father's construction business before deciding to make a career change. In 2001 John entered graduate school at Georgia State University's College of Education, Department of Counseling and Psychological Services. While in graduate school John met his future wife, Brinne, also pursuing a Master's Degree in counseling. In May of 2003 Brinne graduated with a Master's Degree in School Counseling and in June of 2003 John and Brinne married. In 2004 John graduated from Georgia State with both a Master's Degree and Education Specialist Degree in Professional Counseling. Brinne and John now reside in Canton with their daughter Delaney.
John's counseling experience began as an counseling intern at Sheltered Cove Counseling Center, Inc. in Douglasville, Georgia. While completing his internship John also began to work part-time as a counselor at the Newnan Hospital Employee Assistance Program, in Newnan, Georgia. John remained at Sheltered Cove Counseling Center, Inc. after his internship as an associate counselor until August of 2006. John continued to work for the Newnan Hospital Employee Assistance Program up until June of 2006 when he founded and opened the Georgia Professional Counseling Center, Inc.
John has worked with adolescents and adults, individuals, couples and families. John's area's of interest include marriage counseling, assertiveness training, stress and anxiety management, feeling expression, and interpersonal skills training.
